Student and F400 racer Nigel Jewell avoids a track collision thatnks to CSS coaching
Sorry to bother you, but after my experience at the weekend I feel I need to express my thanks to you and all at the school.
I’m sure that without the coaching I had at level 2 on April 23rd , I’d probably be enjoying the warm hospitality that Carmarthen hospital can give !!!!!!
I’ve been racing in F400 for 3 seasons ,but have always had trouble passing (even when obviously quicker),.Now by using the whole track and looking at the empty spaces rather than the actual bikes in front of me, I’m actually passing rather than following.. (always helpful when racing!!)…………..
I’d qualified 12th in F400 in the morning in the wet (well pleased !) and was placed 18th on the grid ,(mixed with 250’s).
For a change I had a good start and got up to speed quickly,, then the 3 bikes in front of me suddenly changed lines ,and I was left heading straight for the back end of a 250 that had stalled on the 2nd row. I know that had that happened before April, I would have panicked and stared at that back tyre until I hit it !!
In the event, whilst still looking for a gap ahead right or left, I clocked two bikes coming up on the inside ,,so used a quick turn left and just clipped his elbow whilst passing….,it took the hairpin and spitfires to get composed again but it wasn’t until race end that I properly realised what had happened.
I know this sort of thing happens all the time in racing and I’m sorry for waffling on for so long but I wanted you to know that it was your training and teaching method that paid off for me,(this time anyway!!),
Many thanks and best regards
Nigel Jewell
